1) Some say that a person should not name three sons Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov. Others say that this is only if they are given consecutively, one after the other. Com­monly, people are not particular about this.

2) It is written in the Testament of R. Yehudah HaChassid that none of his descendants should name his son Yehudah or Shmuel. Some comment that this instruction was only for his own family, or for his own contemporaries.

3) It is written in various seforim that a person should not name his son Moshe or Shmuel.
