A profound statement, brief, but easy to comprehend. I prefer to use the word purpose instead of mandate. Seek out purpose that Hashem has set out for you and fulfill it with chesed (compassion). Reply
There's been such an effort through the years, a populist cultural push to disconnect from history, ancestry, inheritance... and there was a time when it worried me. And I gripped ever harder. That it would not be me in my line who forgets or turns my back on all that was given so that I may live. It's become ever clearer why I have felt distant from what has dominated as "normal". I prefer to be alone then assimilate, as I reclaim myself from the assimilation. And as I dive deeper I find such wealth, richness, beauty... and this is how I help the dreams of my ancestors be realized. The inheritance is palpable, permeating and realer then anything I've found in the modern world. I am deeply grateful. That I've been trusted with the choice. Reply
I will be 76 years old in a few weeks. In all that time I have been dreaming of ways to happiness and fulfillment. I wanted to write, like my grandfather. I wanted to master the piano, like my uncle. Both died young, and my dreams fizzled out. I was left with “needs” and “desires” and studied philosophy, kabbalah, Talmud and all that stuff. Four years in the USMC, and forty two in a factory, is how I learned, studied, from zero to Nothingness.
Dreams and truths, wisdom and purpose got us what we have now, and are not necessarily what we think. Anything old is good, anything new is bad, and won’t last. We must come to understand that we, or each of us, is nothing. We believe that we are something, “look at our bodies, our brains, our experience.” But we wrongly identify with our bodies, which are merely inert on their own, like marionettes. Cut the strings and kaplop!

A dream hopefully become true, I pray for that every single day, since so many times, I cannot count them, but they are inside me, with a big desire, to be fulfilled. Reply

Goodness, since I was a child I've had very vivid dreams. A few years ago one dream in particular had been haunting me. The world was as if a volcano erupted, it was filled with ash and soot, the air was so stale and suffocating. The only light visible was the throne of Hashem. A long line of silhouettes chained at their feet were being judged before him, they were like shadows. A large angel stood next to me and asked what do you see? At first glance it looked like a totem pole; however when he told me look again it was people standing on top of each others shoulders, reaching for the sky. I thought they were trying to escape. After the past few weeks of study, prayers and beautiful revelations from the wisdom of our sages and teachers; I know they were the bridge, the ladder, the anointed generation to bring down holiness.

our mandate I bought the books at amazon, however in the book, the title is Us and the next is Home regarding to here "Our Mandate" and "The Purpose", etc. So, my questions are which ones are more close to the idea of Rebbe, thank you! Reply
Our Generation's Redemption The mandate of Darkness is to become Light to become Light is to fade Darkness with Our Generation's Redemption, in other words G-d has given us all the wisdom of riches with our spirituality with one G-d. Reply

Humankind was/is supposed to live as if today is the last day of life, but prepare for a better tomorrow. How many of us live each day to learn something new and add that something to our minds, hearts and souls. None of us are perfect or probably will never be, but G DS, point was to never stop trying.
