Marylyn's Story: From Crisis to Connection

Marylyn embraced Shabbat observance and found a home within the Chabad community. But her faith was put to the ultimate test when her husband Eliot suffered a devastating 50-foot fall while hiking. Instead of despair, Marylyn’s first words were gratitude: “Thank You, Hashem. He’s alive now. Let’s do this.” With strength and clarity, she rallied her community with Tehillim, acts of tzedakah, and unwavering trust in G-d’s plan. Marylyn’s story is one of resilience, love, and the choice to see life’s challenges as blessings in disguise. Through tragedy, she and Elliot discovered deeper spiritual practices, a renewed sense of purpose, and a powerful closeness to G-d.

I hate to put a damper on this inspirational story! Marilyn's mention of her car and her camera is disturbing.since she professes herself to have accepted Shabbos observance. Even with Amanda's disclaimer at the end that we shouldn't learn Jewish practice without the guidance of a Rabbi, there is room for misunderstanding here. Reply

I think "disturbing" is a strong word. She was pretty clear that she's on a journey and has gradually been taking things on- not that she's doing everything 100%.

There are so many beautiful, inspirational things she shared that can be focused on! None of us are perfect Reply
