Man as Creator

By nature, man derives true satisfaction only from something he has worked for. Therefore, G-d created the world in a way that every person must work to enjoy its rewards. But G-d created man’s nature in the first place. Why didn’t He create us to enjoy gifts given to us freely without the need to “deserve” them and exert ourselves for them?

If everything were simply handed to us, we would never be any more than recipients, “created” beings. G-d wishes us to become, like Himself, “creators.” When we contribute our own energy improving and increasing physical and spiritual goodness in the world, G-d not only blesses our efforts, He takes us as partners and co-creators along with Him in all of creation.
