The Haftorah of the first day of Rosh Hashanah relates the story of Chana, a childless woman who entreated G-d for a son at the Tabernacle in Shiloh. Eventually she gave birth to a son who would become the prophet Shmuel.

The story of Chana teaches us the importance of having children, and the name she chose for her son, a lesson on the parent-child relationship.

Why can't you just use Anglo names such as Hannah and Samuel? Why must you show off your knowledge of Hebrew, and pretend you are more knowledgable than those Jews who don't have a Jewish education? Have some common sense, and courtesy for your fellow Jews. Reply
