As the school year ends and people take vacations, many want to leave all responsibility behind them. But when it comes to Torah study, there’s no such thing. Just like when we complete the communal reading of Torah, we immediately begin once again, the same is true of our own lives.

My Encounter
Tzipporah Edelkopf was born in Kharkov, in the Soviet Republic of Ukraine. As a young girl, she managed to immigrate with her family to Israel. Her parents traveled to the Rebbe but couldn’t afford to bring her along. When the Rebbe heard why she was missing, he arranged for his emissary in Israel to get her a ticket to New York. But once she arrived, the Rebbe had a job for her. (1971)

My Encounter
When Rabbi Moshe Lazar was a yeshiva student in his late teens, he wrote to the Rebbe with the idea of opening a Chabad summer camp for Jewish children – an initiative the Rebbe embraced. (Mid 1950's)
