Every teaching of Torah has a meaning each day for every person. But we need teachers who understand the inner meaning of the words.

When you enter the land which the Lord your G‑d is giving you as an inheritance, take possession of it and settle it.
Then take some of the first of all the fruit of the earth which you will bring from your land, which the Lord your God is giving you.
Put them in a basket and go to the place which the Lord your G‑d will choose to have His presence dwell there.

(Deut. 26:1-2)

Here is how the Baal Shem Tov read these words from the inside-out:

“The land” is ארץ eretz, which implies רצון desire.

What is the desire which G‑d has given you and that is an inheritance from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

It is the desire for oneness with Him.

You may not recognize what it is that you desire. And who knows what you might chase in your attempt to quench that desire?

But you must enter it. Embrace it. Know that what burns inside you is good.

Take ownership of that desire and settle it. Bring it into your everyday life.

Find a basket, a container, find many containers to hold it.

Any mitzvah that comes by.

A few words of Torah study.

A few lines of prayer from the Psalms.

Where?

In this place where you are right now, this place that G‑d has led you to.

This is the place He has chosen for His presence to dwell through you.
