Learning with Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs (Dutch): Chief Rabbi in the Netherlands
Learn a beautiful teaching of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, in loving memory of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. The source text is a sicha for parshat Vayechi from Likkutei Sichos vol.10—as adapted by Rabbi Sacks in his book “Torah Studies”. This sicha is being studied world-wide by Project Likkutei Sichos—an initiative to facilitate the learning of the sichos of the Rebbe.
Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs was born and raised in Amsterdam. The first members of the Jacobs family were already in the Netherlands around 1400. After his Gymnasium Exams and a study of 8 years at the Ecole Rabbinique of Paris, the Lubavitcher Talmudic High School of Brooklyn and the Talmud College of the Negev (Israel) he returned to the Netherlands in 1975, to devote himself to Dutch Jewry. Rabbi Jacobs is the Chief Rabbi of the Interprovinciaal Opperrabbinaat, chairman of the Rabbinical Council for the Netherlands and the chaplain of the Sinai Centre in Amstelveen, the only Jewish psychiatric hospital in Europe. He is on the board of the RCE, the Rabbinical Centre of Europe.
Project Likkutei Sichos is an initiative to study and complete the Rebbe's seminal work "Likkutei Sichos" in 8 years.
