Of course the calculations of Rambam are a lot more difficult due to the model that puts the Earth at the center, instead of the Sun. No one can blame the brilliant Rabbi though, because these facts only became known a few centuries after his death, and in those days even suggesting such a thing could be a death sentence as in Giordano Bruno's case (well he said other things that were frowned upon in those days too). I don't want to start a fight here about this - obviously one can use any reference point - either Earth at the center, or the Sun at the Center - if you really want to make things difficult for yourself you can put the Moon at the Center too. Just think about it GPS is very widely used and puts the Earth at the center because it makes things easier. I was just curious if anyone tried to redo his magnificent work using this 'new' information - obviously would achieve exactly the same results without that much pain - in that case, would you have a reference? The Rambam wrote with Ruach Hakodesh. There was no mistake Reply

I didn't say it was a mistake. I said there is an easier way of doing the calculation. If done right, should achieve the very same results as the Rambam, of course. Reply
