Regarding Naomi's remarks to her daughters in law that even if she, Naomi, remarried and had sons, would be years before these daughters in laws could marry them.
The lecturer states that Yibum would not be permitted since the brothers (Machlon/Kilyon) would be non-contemporaneous with any sons Naomi would bear from new marriage. However, yibum only applies to paternal brothers. Any sons Naomi would produce if she remarried would be maternal brothers. Therefore the restriction on marrying the wife of a non-contemporaneous brother would not apply.
I think the restriction lecturer meant to refer to was the one against marrying the wife of a maternal brother.

I saw in a commentary that Orpha and Ruth converted before marriage but by Ruth leaving , it made her conversion valid, and by Orpha not leaving, it made her conversion invalid. ( Because the shiur said that it wasn't a Jewish marraige.) Rabbi Meir says that they didn't convert , but the Zohar Chadash said they did, but they were coerced. ( This according to the Artscroll:) Reply
