The Simulated Life Here, There June 13, 2010

Judaism, as I was taught, emphasizes DOING, whilst Christianity emphasizes FAITH. Faith can often be viewed as simulating situations in one's mind-- but without action, it is a meaningless dream. (See the movie 'BILLY LIAR'). Still, sometimes dreams are all one has-- how many people KNOW they could be a great President, but have no idea of how to become a politician? (See the ending of the Star Trek episodes, "The Cage"/"The Menagerie") But acting on something, without having faith in it,, turns one into a mindless robot! Being an idle dreamer or a mindless robot are both, (usually) worthless to the individual. One needs to COMBINE both teachings! Of course, the road chosen by an individual may not exactly be the road thought to be the best by one's elders and teachers....but whatever one wants to do --one must acknowledge that both Faith AND Action are necessary! DREAM....DARE....DO! Reply

The problem, I guess, does not stand in the developing of artificial technologies but in the wrong use we make out of them.

Einstein, for example, understood fundamental things but they have been ill used by many.

I think that what really matters stands in the correct meaning, and consequent development of this meaning, of our mundane creations. Reply

SIMULATED LIFE I DO simulate the life I want....but I also prepare for having it happen. What is life without dreams, hopes, preparations? I read about people who have done what I want to do -- people like Sophie Winkleman, Mary Donaldson, and Daniel Westling. If they could fulfil their dreams-- which are the same as my dreams...why not dream. But also-- DO. I thought my dream was unattainable ...but these three, (and many others!) have done it -- so why not I? What is my dream? To marry an H.R.H. (a REAL prince.) I do SO wish Israel was a monarchy -- but it presently just isn't. Socialism seems the Jewish way, (sigh) So, since there are NO extant Jewish H.R.H.s, (rich Jews, yes -- but NOT H.R.H.s), I am prepared to convert to Islam, Catholicism, or any Protestant denomination there is! Sorry-- I want to be an H.R.H. a LOT more than I want to be Jewish. And always have. Losing weight & making money, (lots!), are my first steps! Dreams Into Reality! Squirrels To The Nuts! Reply

Meaning and Purpose It's been seven years now that I got rid of my television set because driving down the street at night you see the blue glow of TV sets holding its powerful sway over nearly everyone. I didn't want it to have power over me ,too. Since then, I've noticed that my own life has plenty enough to offer and that I don't need to watch stories about pretend people having pretend lives. It's been a journey of discovering other habits and beliefs that simulate meaning and purpose for me, and replacing them with habits of authenticity. That process probably never ends! Reply

the big push Hi, I agree with you that the biggest push of all should be, the satisfaction one gets internally, from living in a spiritual way, in drawing nourishment from the stream of life, and giving back, as vessels that do receive, fill and pour, from every pore.

People are seeking meaning, and they often look for a quick and easy "fix". They eat food for that sensation of full ness beyond need, because they are reacting to a deep inner loneliness, perhaps a desire for love. Food has these connotations.

There are deep ongoing metaphoric connects that do bind all life. It doesn't matter where we look, and science also provides these connects.

We are daily using buttons, to fasten our clothing, to prevent ourselves from becoming undone.

Take a long drink from the spiritual stream. Find meaning in loving each other, helping and supporting those in need, and in so doing, the message IS the massage.

So,this is an example of Sitra Achra in action. An un-G-dly "reality" becoming reality and creating its "own life", and, as any life, needs the "support" from above in order to function, a correspondent "life" is also created above.

Ding, Dong, is here One Day i will push the button that will let me come inside. But one should ask before pushing that button of course, this being the difference between asking and taking. If one accepts a gift with honestly the one giving the gift should come true to his action with gratitude. Reply
