I watched and listened to it again. Amazing interview. I think what made it special was how open she was about how and why things affected her. And yes what she learned and we learned with her. I learned so much. I was often brought to tears. I think she said something like, “we teach what we are learning...” (bringing us into the process). It all touched me deeply.

As a mosaic artist rearranging shattered pieces into something whole is my own Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold powder, so the cracks become part of the beauty rather than something hidden.
The idea behind it is very meaningful: brokenness and repair are part of an object’s history and can make it more beautiful.
Losing my husband a few years ago l was and remain broken and that's ok . When he passed a part of me passed with him.trying to mend and create my own kintsugi expression . However ,Its not either brokenness or inspiration . The 2 can exist simultaneously. In all due respect l dont agree with Ms. Felder when she says l am not broken but inspired. Reply
