Hi Hakhel Leaders!
This year of Hakhel we relive and recall an event that would take place in the Bet Hamikdash—the temple and courtyard in Jerusalem that was the heartbeat of the Jewish people for more than 800 years. This year more than ever, we hope and pray for the Bet Hamikdash to be rebuilt and our nation’s glory to be restored.
During this time of year, when the Bet Hamikdash in Jerusalem was twice destroyed—once by the Babylonians and centuries later again by the Roman enemies—this sense of longing is especially acute.
But despair has no place in Judaism. Citing texts that we shall examine below, the Rebbe urged us to use this time to study the features of the Bet Hamikdash, both the two that stood in the past and the third one yet to be built, thus doing our part to hasten the rebuilding of the Temple.
So invite some friends, print up your study texts, and let’s get “building”!
