In the previous chapters, the author explained that even a person who solely relies on G‑d to provide for all his needs must also engage in a natural means of pursuing his livelihood and other needs. In this chapter, the author will discuss the contrast between people who have bitachon and those who don’t in the manner in which they pursue their livelihoods.

We will now discuss the differences between those who rely on G‑d and those who don’t with regards to their involvement in the pursuit of means for their livelihood. I will say that the person who relies on G‑d for his livelihood and other needs will differ in seven ways from those who do not have trust in Him:

אֲבָל הַהֶפְרֵשׁ שֶׁבֵּין הַבּוֹטֵחַ עַל הָאֱלֹהִים וְזוּלָתוֹ בְּעִנְיַן הִתְעַסְּקוֹ בְּסִבּוֹת הַטֶּרֶף, אֹמַר, כִּי הַבּוֹטֵחַ בֵּאלֹהִים יִבָּדֵל מִזּוּלַת הַבּוֹטֵחַ עָלָיו בְּשִׁבְעָה עִנְיָנִים:
