So Hacham Baruch Hori who learned in our kollel, brother of the famous mekubal of Tunis Rebi Hayyim Hori used to eat only bread and oil. His regular meal was bread and oil. But on Shabbat he ate gefilte fish and said it was me'en Olam Haba. Reply

Hello! I grew up Ashkenazi but have Sefardí blood and really appreciate your articles about Sefardim. And these quizzes are definitely a lot of fun! I knew a lot of the answers because I live in Israel and also have had a lot of Sefardi friends. However I just want to point something out.
Let’s say someone is Sefardí, but maybe they only know the foods from their own particular group, which they grew up with, and wouldn’t have had exposure to the foods from other types of Sefardim (Plus, Yemenites and Persians aren’t technically under the category of Sefardim, correct?). So you have included foods from several different groups and so I’m thinking that even if someone grew up 100% Persian or Moroccan he would not necessarily get all the answers right. I just happen to have been exposed to all these groups (plus I guessed right on some of them). Kudos to you on another really fun quiz. Keep them coming! Reply

This is so funny!
I am the founding father of a Sephardic synagogue here in Brooklyn but I only got 6 out of 10.
I guess I really don't belong in the kitchen! Reply

My wife Abigayil knows how to cook basmati rice, tabouli, kipe burritos and couscous. Oh don't forget the Moroccan fish! Reply

Tzvi Fastag Brooklyn, NY June 1, 2021
in response to Susan:

My wife Abigayil and I have a very wide taste. We do not usually enjoy bland food.
She likes charif which is spicy like the jalapeno chili.
From time to time we visit the kosher indian restaurants.
We like variety. Reply

Alan Beit Shemesh, ISRAEL May 27, 2021

Lots of fun, as always. Even living in Israel in a Moroccan city, it wasn't easy. Reply

Lauren Spector May 27, 2021

5/10, I did not do very well. The positive thing is I learned something new. I do not know much about Sephardic food or customers. Thank you for these quizzes. I learn so much. Reply

Brian Jorgensen Sherwood, Oregon May 27, 2021

This time I chose not to guess so dear friends your favorite goy only got 1 answer correct, but at least I know that Gefilte fish is usually not found east of Gibraltar.

Good quiz, thank you. Reply
