I find funny the answers you search to be wrong. Like « placed on the window of the rabbi on Rosh Hodesh » or « Jewish birth certificate signed by rabbi and cantor » or «  at midnight of the summer and winter solstice ». You have a good imagination ... Reply

? #4 was slightly misleading. My first answer was 44 for the grand total. Now a ? of interest: We say, joyfully, for 120 years. Now, multiply 44 by 120 and you get 5280. 5280 is also the number of feet in a mile. I don't believe in coincidence. Is there any sort of connection between the two 5280's? Reply

Yakov Skokie November 6, 2020
in response to Dan Siegel:

Interesting! I would say that it is a coincidence. While 44 and 120 are significant numbers related to Torah, "5280 feet in a mile" does not really convey any true meaning. Miles and feet are arbitrary lengths defined by man, and not everyone uses them (e.g., the metric system which is also arbitrary, or the Torah measurements of amos and tefachim). So "5280 feet in a mile" is no different than saying, "Let's define something called a mile that is 5,280 times as long as something called a foot". It is not like the number of days in the month, for instance, which has true meaning, as it is based on the movements of the sun and the moon Reply

Dan Siegel Dacula November 10, 2020
in response to Yakov:

Yakov, thank you for your reply. I believe coincidence occurs only in present day romance novels. I agree that "miles and feet are arbitrary lengths defined by man." But, why pick that value? Why not any even number, 5000, 2000, 10000, etc. After all, the "meter" was defined as part of the distance between the poles. And that has been changed. Because the distance between the poles has changed. My basic question is this; The 5280 feet measure was picked centuries after the time of the days of the Torah, therefore, did the selectors make a connection to our 5280? We will never know. Here is another "coincidence'. There are two things the Pilgrams wanted to do. They wanted to do away with the English language and replace it with Hebrew. They wanted to name the city we call Boston as New Jerusalem. They didn't because they felt that it would be too difficult to learn a language with different characters See ref. for reason..(Ref: "One Nation Under God" Lachman et al.) Reply
