Rabbi Posner, it's NOT always possible for Jews to be buried in The Holy Land, since Jews live all over the world, and are not always able to travel, and I read something about Muslims burying their dead ASAP! Reply

8/10 on question four, I thought it was all of above, I knew we do not bury the dead on the Shabbat. The day of the death, we clean the body, we do not bury the body.
Well I learned something new again. Thank you. Reply

8/10. I did not realize that cremation is absolutely forbidden. It is good that I took this quiz now, before this becomes an issue. Reply

B''H,

Rabbi Posner thanks!

1)-Would you also give us a quiz about the actual prayers during the funeral and ha Shiva period?

Regarding the ideal burial place, the question, that I seem to keep failing to answer correctly, we all can not be buried in the Holy Land (the ideal burial place).

2)- Would you kindly please give us a quiz about the process of burial (not in the 'ideal place' but wherever we are) and how the body must be placed in the grave etc (i.e. Head towards the Holy Land), etc, would you please give us a quiz about it?

We all have to go through the process and it would be good to have a more clear insight about it, just my personal opinion, thank you!

Best regards, it is erev shabbat so: It is ''Time to focus on G-D'' of Ab'raham, and Yīsraʾel, (Ancient Hebrew).

Error: Shiv'ah means "seven"; NOT, as stated in the quiz, "sitting". The name reflects the fact that the seven relatives of the deceased who are formally classed as mourners (father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, and spouse) must "sit" in their formal state of mourning for a period of SEVEN DAYS. The seven days include the day of the funeral (usually less than a full day), and ending on the morning of day 7. They should not leave the house in which they are mourning, except to attend services in the Synagogue on Shabbat, when mourning is carried out in private only, not in public. Thus, they "sit" for a period of Shiv'ah (seven) days. Reply
