A chassid once came to the Alter Rebbe bemoaning his financial condition and physical health: “I need G‑d to grant a recovery for me as well as for my wife and family; I need to have a livelihood to pay up my debts, marry off my children, and make home improvements.”

“You say all that you need. That which you are needed for you don’t inquire!” replied the Rebbe.
