Exposure To the non-Jewish world A recurrent theme in the Tanach is that non-Jews are able to influence Jews to abandon their faith. Apparently, this is the reason for the rules in this chapter. Why is it that the Jews cannot successfully deal with such exposure (e.g., even though Hashemite blocks Bilam, the Midianite women exercise control over the Jews)? Thank you.
Are Christians considered idol worshippers? The discussion about the relationship of Jews to idol worshippers has brought much dissonance to me. Primarily, is a Person who practices Catholicism considered an idol worshipper? Do these laws regarding intrapersonal relationships apply in countries outside of Israel?
