I scored 9/10. The only question I got wrong was the one about the Jewish people testing G-d Reply

Deborah Lawrence, NJ August 9, 2025

Great quiz this week. I scored 9 out of 10. Question 5 was tricky for me as a non-Jew and the one I got wrong.

Peace,
Deborah Reply

Rabbi,
An excellent Parshah and quiz.
It's very helpful to have a link to see the place in the Torah which describes it. Reply

Rabbi,
Great quiz. I scored 8/10. But, question 5 was tricky about the Sabbath. Question #9 was selected by accident. So, my score is what I posted 8 correct answers.

Peace,
Deborah Reply

but another good quiz Reply

9 of 10! Missed #9, I thought it was the spies. Reply

Steve Ky July 28, 2023

Rabbi,
Another excellent quiz.
I can see the reason for the discussion of the answer for #5.
When you read the reference to this week's Parshah, I believe the answer in the quiz is spot on.
Please, people, let's not debate too much over the answer: remember that God is there for us and all He has done for us.
Answer right or answer wrong: see both points of view and move on.
We have more important items to put our attention to:
that's what I like to see in the discussions. Reply

in response to Steve:

the whole jewish religion is based on debates and discussion
in this case both answers are right and btw
what is your take on oct. 7 2024 Reply

8/10 So I too get question #5 Wrong! As a Non-Jewish person! I believe that this question is tricky! Due to the fact that in Deuteronomy 5: verse 15 does states that you were a slave in Egypt! However in Exodus 20: verse 11 states that G-d rested on the seventh day! Which is the Ten Commandments! According to the scriptures! And my understanding! Is that G-d was reminding the Jewish people of the Ten Commandments! When he reiterate that the Jewish people were a slave in Egypt! And that they should keep the Sabbath! Therefore I am agreeing with Dirk! Shabbath Shalom. Reply

8/10 I'm glad as a non Jew to get this score. I love this quiz each week. Reply

JONATAS TAVARES Palhoça SC Brazil August 17, 2019

The answer of question 5 is right.
In parashat Vaetchanan (Deuteronomy 5:12-15) it's not written that G'd rested on Shabat, but in verse 15 it's written to remember that you was slave in the land of Egypt" Reply

I agree with Dirk regarding Question #5. Reply
