I can see the reason for the discussion of the answer for #5.
When you read the reference to this week's Parshah, I believe the answer in the quiz is spot on.
Please, people, let's not debate too much over the answer: remember that God is there for us and all He has done for us.
Answer right or answer wrong: see both points of view and move on.
We have more important items to put our attention to:
that's what I like to see in the discussions.

8/10 So I too get question #5 Wrong! As a Non-Jewish person! I believe that this question is tricky! Due to the fact that in Deuteronomy 5: verse 15 does states that you were a slave in Egypt! However in Exodus 20: verse 11 states that G-d rested on the seventh day! Which is the Ten Commandments! According to the scriptures! And my understanding! Is that G-d was reminding the Jewish people of the Ten Commandments! When he reiterate that the Jewish people were a slave in Egypt! And that they should keep the Sabbath! Therefore I am agreeing with Dirk! Shabbath Shalom. Reply

Great quiz! I scored 10/10 on my final quiz. Doing a pretest I scored 9/10. I got the same question wrong in 2024: the purpose for The Sabbath. I had to reread the scriptures to understand that resting was not the main purpose to “remember” such a holy day.

Well, actually, there is really nothing wrong with spending all of Shabbat sleeping and otherwise resting. After all, in doing so, we are imitating G-d, which is the whole point of following the commandments anyway. Of course, if one also spends part of the day studying Torah and so on, all the better, but that is like icing on the cake

In our Parshah, what is the reason given for keeping the Sabbath?
This wording was different by stating: “In our Parshah” (not “In this week’s Parshah”). Which made it tricky and surprised me that I selected the wrong response. Because the Rabbi was asking a different question based on the current Parshah.
Also, Rabbi Leibel Gniwisch is an excellent quiz designer. He never used the same question for the same Parshah. He rewords his questions or test our understanding on a different area of the scriptures. In my opinion he is an expert in guiding us through looking 👀 into the many meanings of G_d’s Torah.

Dear Raymond,
Sorry that I was misunderstood. I do study the Torah and rest the body on the Sabbath. While reading scriptures about the Sabbath this year, I overlooked that one brief sentence connecting the Sabbath to remind generations with the major event of escaping Egypt.
But, previous outside reading such as below:
…..- Its meaning is as Onkelos translates it: - "and He rested." Every expression of the root was is related to ….”soul," because person revives………
his breath when resting from the toil of labor. G_d, the One about whom it is written: "He never tires or grows weary," ….,,and all His action is done through speech, dictated that rest be ascribed to Him, so as to make this idea more comprehensible to us.
This outside reading speaks to me based on G_d resting after creating things on earth in six days more so than the exit from Egypt.
