The Fifteenth of Shevat marks the New Year for Trees, and the Rebbe encouraged men, women and children to celebrate the day with a Farbrengen, a joyful gathering where people inspire each other in the service of G-d. In an address to children, the Rebbe explains the significance of the day. A person is compared to a tree, and a child is like a sapling which is beginning to grow. We conduct ourselves correctly not by standing still, but rather, with every day, growing and developing more in our Jewish observance and in G-dliness. |
