The Rebbe asks the Russian Chasidim to sing a Russian Nigun in honor of the Alter Rebbe’s liberation from Czarist prison. But it needs to be a Nigun with which everyone else can join in.

In our daily lives we come into contact with a variety of people, whether family, friends, coworkers or employees, and our interaction with them is often limited by the way we perceive them.

The Mishna states that every Jew is righteous. Yet how can it be expected of every Jew, regardless of circumstances or the education he received, that he conduct himself “righteously” in every aspect of his life?

The Alter Rebbe instructed that every Jewish community should study the entire Talmud each year. Therefore, it is customary on Yud Tes Kislev to divide up the study of Talmud.

“My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You; (as one) in a desolate and dry land without water, so (I thirst) to see You in the Sanctuary, to behold Your might and glory.” (Psalm 63) This Niggun was first taught by the Rebbe on 28 Nissan, 5714 – 1954.

As our Sages teach, a beautiful home is important. But what brings out the true beauty of one’s home are the beautiful Mitzvos and holy books found within.

“I have taken refuge in You, O Lord; I will never be shamed.” (Psalms 71:1) Chassidim sing a nigun composed for the Rebbe’s 70th birthday.
