A Home Full of Holy Books
Disc 18, Program 69
Event Date: 19 Kislev 5733 - November 25, 1972
A beautiful home is essential, as the Sages teach, “a pleasant home, pleasant furnishings and a pleasant wife broaden one’s mind.” But what brings out the true beauty of one’s home are the beautiful Mitzvos found within. The truest “pleasant furnishings” a Jewish house can have are holy books. They should be prominently displayed and easily accessible for family members or guests to find any topic in Torah, whenever the need or interest arises. This is a special directive for the woman of the house, who generally chooses and arranges the interior décor. It is part of her role to ensure that her home be filled with holy books, “the knowledge of G-d,” and that everyone knows, by her example, that their content is the true life of the home. |
