The Fifth Question: When Do We Eat?

Chaim Saiman describes the textual basis for two differing modes of Seder night. Are we to draw out the recital of maggid and delay the consumption of the matzah? Or is it preferable to conclude the maggid section sooner and save discussion for after eating?

I went to a Chabad seder where we started before sunset. We had some discussion and explanation before the part with eating of matzah, and then we ate dinner. After sunset, we continued the rest of the seder with discussions. We were done by 10:30. Everyone was happy because they weren't waiting for dinner. I highly recommend this approach. Reply
