Rachel's children Many years ago I visited Mother Rachel's Tomb on the road to Bethlehem and in the inner chamber a group of maybe 10-year old yeshiva children started to sing exactly this song, led by their teacher with his eyes closed and intent on every word, repeating and repeating. I then read the words on the covering of the tomb itself: Ve'shavu banim el gvulam ("and the children will return to their borders").I couldn't help but burst out in tears. The song said it all. Profoundly affecting.. Poignant... I thought of this song immediately on the night of the bombings in Boston. It was just running in my head over and over, and then I asked myself, "Why this song? Why now? Well, I went back and read the whole tehillim and was very surprised by what it said! Hashem can announce to us in mysterious ways! Reply
