Self Esteem and Loneliness lecture
This lecture did not solve my problem of loneliness. Every Shabbos and Yom Tov I am extremely lonely and can't get out due to disability restrictions. I usually get one person to visit me but they only stay for about half an hour or so or if I'm lucky, an hour. The rest of the time I have no one to talk to and I am a very people-oriented person.
I do do what Hashem wants of me--I keep Shabbos and Yom Tov despite the overpowering feelings I have to do otherwise due to my extreme loneliness.
I don't believe just by doing what Hashem wants of me I will get over my loneliness and lack of self-esteem.
I need another lecture that addresses my problems.

Sorry to hear of your loneliness, and being disabled as well. Doing the mitzvahs is a great thing to do. But dealing with our human and physical needs is to be met out by other human beings. By reaching out to each other. It would be best for you to call a non religious group to help you with getting out in your community. I would start with the aging services. It also deals with people at any age with a disability. They will send people to help you with all your needs. Reply
I have to admit... whenever i ask myself what H' wants me to do in that instant, i'm always provided with an answer for some action and i end up thinking less about myself and more about the task in hand, I consequently achieve more and this in turn makes me feel better about myself. I guess you're right, my purpose is to serve H' and H' in turn will serve and keep me company. Reply
Great Thank you soooo much for this wholesome jewish perspective on fear and self-esteem. How refreshing to hear those words in a world where the meaning of self-esteem and succes is thwarted. Reply
Awesome These lectures that are placed on this website are so great. I listen to them while at work, and i feel such a great relief when i listen to these people speak about judism. I love it. I think there should be more lectures like the fear, and self esteem. I think are alot of people who need inspirational words from others. Reply

To the person who felt the audio didn't correct their problems and on disability, I work as an occupational/physical therapy assistant for older disabled men and women. Many have stroke, immobile arms or legs, cannot walk, arthritis, dementia, Alzheimer's, and dementia. I think the most interesting are memory care patients, some see objects that aren't there, many constantly wonder in fear or irritation where their family is. I suggest two options, find an adult daycare facility so you can be in the company of others who understand you, or option #2 is tell someone you love them.
