I scored 8/10. Not bad for a goy with an intense interest in these quizzes and subjects.

10/10. Rosh Hashanah 19 years ago is when I resolved to do teshuvah. It was the best decision I ever made. Reply

I got 5/10. However, I'm not Jewish (yet). I deeply appreciate this site. I believe that it will help me on my journey. Shalom. Reply

How long has t'shuvah also been the word for, "answer?" Is that a modern Hebrew thing? I suppose one who answers is returning, much like the word, "reply."

So as I type, I'm understanding better, but was it always used to mean, "answer?" Perhaps that's what it means where God says He'd repent(whereas it's usually, "relent"), that he would respond? Sorry I don't recall the book, chapter, & verse for my reference. Reply

Chabad.org Staff September 5, 2025
in response to Apfel:

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Many Hebrew words have more than one meaning, and teshuva is one of them. Reply

Rabbi Golomb UK September 5, 2025
in response to Apfel:

The root of the word Teshuvah is to return or go back so the concept of an answer is effectively getting back to the questioner Reply

Axel Berger Köln-Ossendorf September 6, 2025
in response to Rabbi Golomb:

In English too "return" is sometimes used in the meaning of "reply", when reporting a dialogue. Reply

Apfel Richland September 6, 2025
in response to Rabbi Golomb:

Ready Golomb thank you very much. I know you won't see this until tomorrow, but your comment was helpful.

Chabad, to say a Hebrew word has more than one meaning is a drastic understatement. I actually thought my comment did reflect a bit of familiarity with the language, but I must have been mistaken.

Shabbat shalom. Reply

I thought these questions were BOOM-BANG and had to get a few books out. Took some time, so I say WALA MALA a little Gray Matter almost exploded. One hour in doing this and reading I finally at the tenth one finished. I liked number 2 about the three elements: Regret Resolve and Verbal confession. A HARD earned 10. Think I will go find a soft pillow and rest the Wiggly
Gray Matter in my Tete (Head). Is there anyone out there in Quiz Land agree with me. Please agree? :-) Reply

8/10. One was a freaky mistake-- I hadn't even touched the screen of my phone, and the choice was made for me! And, baal teshuvah-- I was thinking about a baal tefillah , which turned out to be the wrong answer. Oh, well. I always learn from these quizzes, and so does my friend, with whom I share them! Reply
