Before I speak and petition you, honored ruler of the land, I pray to G‑d that, in His kindness and goodness, all that I present to you1 will be both emotionally and intellectually satisfying to your honor. [The remarks that follow represent] a condensation of the presentation and prefatory statements that my revered father, the Rebbe, of blessed memory,2 made before Czar Paul3 when various denunciations were brought against him and these statements were well received by [the Czar].
I trust that the eternal G‑d Who grants grace and kindness to us all will graciously bestow kindness and truth to all these truthful words spoken before you, that you always look upon them gracefully and kindly, and that you view4 me with favor, love and kindness, so that all the accusing forces5 be silenced.
