The Illogical Jew

Some parts of Torah cannot be explained. This helps explain the insatiable desire to study more and more Torah.

The Illogical Jew
Disc 193, Program 769

Event Date: 14 Iyar 5744 - May 16, 1984

Whereas the commandments are generally divided into Statutes, Testimonies and Laws, in this case, the verse states: “If you follow My statutes and observe My commandments and perform them.” The word for statute, “Chok,” shares a root with the Hebrew word for engraving, “Chakikah,” teaching us that the exile cannot impact the very essence of a Jew, for Torah and the commandments are engraved, etched onto the essence of a Jew’s soul.

When a Jew follows Torah in this way, he has no stagnation in this world or the next, for even when he isn’t learning, he thinks about why he isn’t learning. Thus, he’s constantly preparing for more Torah. It becomes just like the days of Sefirah, which as a preparation for receiving the Torah, are included in our service of the Almighty which began immediately upon leaving Egypt.

'Quality' can not be justified or defined by 'quantity'!

My view is: Life and its logics (what we perceive as facts) are sensory/mind-based. Thus foundation, here in the dimensional system, is "quantity" ( the essence of "birth " into this algorithmic system that itself is a 'challenge or the reason for living' for the soul).

The soul is a quality. Facts are based on quantity.

Conclusion: No expectation to explain all that is in Torah by 'the quantifiable measures' which are understood (thus accepted as facts) by the human mind. Reply
