Exile is a state when the world does not fully endorse the truth. Throughout history, Jews have risen above many attempts to discredit and hinder their devotion to G-d, and so must we do. We must learn from the self-sacrifice of Jews in countries of oppression who struggle to educate their children Jewishly. One day those lands will see legions of Jewish boys and girls who are proud of their Jewishness. Knowing their struggles must inspire us to appreciate and improve the Jewish education of our children in free countries. Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai taught, “Wherever they are exiled, the Divine Presence is with them.” A Jew is not alone in exile. G-d is in exile with every Jew and, “in all of their oppressions, He is oppressed.” When a Jew suffers, G-d declares that He suffers the very same pain. We can be assured that G-d will not leave exile even a moment before each and every Jew has been redeemed. |
