The Midrash explains that in Egypt the Jews were not united as a people. But with each passing day after the Exodus, they became more unified. And when they finally reached Mount Sinai, they encamped “as one person, with one heart.” It was then that G-d entrusted them with His Torah, “whose ways are all pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”
