When the Jews were redeemed from Egypt, they eagerly counted down the days until the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Today as well, we count the days and weeks from Passover as we gear up to receive the Torah anew on Shavuos.

Highlights from the Lag B’Omer Parade of 1987.

At the conclusion of the Lag B’omer Parade in 1987, the Rebbe extends a thank-you to the guests of honor: “The boys and the girls, children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah.”

Exile is a state when the world does not fully endorse the truth. Throughout history, Jews have risen above many attempts to discredit and hinder their devotion to G-d, and so must we do. We must learn from the self-sacrifice of Jews in countries of oppression who struggle to educate their children Jewishly. One day those lands will see legions of Jewish boys and girls who are proud of their Jewishness. Knowing their struggles must inspire us to appreciate and improve the Jewish education of our children in free countries.
