The Lag B’omer rallies and parades outside 770 drew thousands of Jews from all walks of life and backgrounds. The gatherings attest to the fact that despite all our differences in language and culture, there is a single unifying force that keeps all Jews together as one family. But what is that glue that binds us together, and how do we maintain it throughout the rest of the year as well?

Addressing Jews who had recently arrived from the Soviet Union at a Lag B’omer parade, the Rebbe explains that they demonstrate, for all to see, the steadfast commitment to Torah and Judaism that the Jewish people have, despite adversity.

G-d has promised to redeem us from exile. G-d Himself could have chosen to remain in the Heavens, separate from the exile, and from afar direct events to finally lead to our redemption. But Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai tells us otherwise: “Every place where the Jewish People are exiled, the Divine Presence is together with them.”

A Lively Chassidic Niggun.

From Passover through Shavuos, we count the days of the Omer, reminding ourselves to utilize every possible moment to prepare for receiving G-d’s Torah anew. This Mitzvah teaches us to count and value every day of our lives.

A grand Lag B’omer parade. After the crowds arrive and the 12 Pesukim are recited, the Rebbe addresses the children. The parade goes by the Rebbe with marching bands, U.S. soldiers, marvelous floats and happy children.
