G-d has promised to redeem us from exile. G-d Himself could have chosen to remain in the Heavens, separate from the exile, and from afar direct events to finally lead to our redemption. But Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai tells us otherwise: “Every place where the Jewish People are exiled, the Divine Presence is together with them.” The Divine Presence goes together with every Jew, in every land, every city, every neighborhood, and on every street; G-d accompanies him and remains with him until the very last moment of exile. Only then will “G-d return with your exiles” - He will return together with His People. A Jew is never alone. Even in a place where he is the only one connected to Torah and Mitzvos, G-d not only accompanies him, but dwells within him, within his Jewish heart. And just as the heart pumps life to the entire body, his entire life is infused with Judaism. |
