Re: souls and sparks The Rebbe spoke of the father/son bond specifically because he was speaking on the occasion of his father's yahrtzeit. On the occasion of his mother's yahrtzeit he would speak at length about the connection between mother and child. Reply

souls and sparks Fantastic ! My only inquiry has to do with the father/child bond or perhaps the father - son bond since The Rebbe is speaking to an assembly of men. The message overlooks the mother whose soul is also in Heaven. Although Judaism might put a feather of more weight on the father bond, I strongly disagree. The gravestone for my parents reads, obm, " Two Beautiful Neshumot ". The Torah and mitzvot I perform are in the merit of both, and in a manner that lifts their souls to the same lofty level, with the help of G-d.
