Usually attributed to the Alter Rebbe, it is not certain whether the melody is actually one of his ten compositions. The melody is filled with poignancy and is sung soulfully. It is a favorite of the Rebbe, who revived it on Shabbat Mevorchim in the month of Iyar, 5714 (1954) at a Chassidic gathering.

This is indeed beautiful enough for me to stop preparations for Shabbat housework and copy down the lyrics. Reply
Re: how to help baal teshuvas or anyone really learn
My attempt at the lyrics.... (you can read them in Hebrew under the notes, although it's very hard to read backwards/forwards)
tzomoh lecha nafshi kamoh lecha v'sari b'eretz tzion'a'eif b'li mayim.
kein bakodesh chazisicha lir'os uz'cha uch'vodecha kein bakodesh chazisicha lir'os uz'cha uch'vodecha.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, transcribing is not my strong point!

how to help baal teshuvas or anyone really learn
I'm extremely grateful for all these treasures but would appreciate a greater clarity of the lyrics for all these niggunim. I see a few words but hear alot more there. Please, Please put lyrics word for word so Jews like me can really learn. If i could follow along step by step I would be so grateful. Please put hebrew and then transliteration directly under, and then english under that. I study, but I'm at a point where I need to sing. My soul needs to sing. These tunes, if I could only really join in and let my soul rise, would allow me to get past a lot of obstacles.

transliteration is missing the second line. Kein bakoidesh... Reply
Pinchik style?
Who is the singer of Tzomo Lcho Nafshi?
If he isn't doing a good imitation of the Golden Age Chazzen Pinchik it can only be that Pinchik represented a style similar to his.
I love it.

Chabad niggunim
Wow! I can't believe you have them online! I'd love to buy them, too. I grew up with these, although we were not Lubavitcher chassidim. This WAS Jewish music. It still is, nothing like the trash they put out today.
Thank you!

Hi - here's the hebrew, so you don't have to read it backwards from the score:
צמאה לך נפש' כמה לך בש'ר בארץ צח'ח ועיף בלי מים
כן בקדש חזיתך לראות עזך וכבודך
