reality and the "real" reality
Shalom Yerachmiel: I listen every week. Your insights this week made me think of Jonathan Sacks article on Infinity: The Practical Implications of Infinity
Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and the essence of Jewish mysticism
By Jonathan Sacks
He gives a lucid and intelligible explanation of the difference between facts and intention. For Rabbi Shimon, intention was the criteria for judging mitzvot and other daily dilemmas. For him, the Ein Sof was the unifying factor (i.e. soul, nefesh) that binds us all together. Like your discussion on perspective, we can realize that we are all bound to each other even though we exist in separate bodies, communities, and faiths. I am a Roman Catholic who has committed myself to learning more about Judaism and keeping the fires of inter-religious dialogue alive because "my perspective" sees us as (first and foremost) creatures of the Creator. Thanks for the instruction (Torah) and todah for the treasures of Judaica. I look forward to more gems.
