so one cannot do laundry Thursday night as that is already Friday according to halachic times. Reply
The institution of Ezra was not a Halachic prohibition of doing laundry on Friday. It was rather a communal institution to ensure the proper upkeep of Shabbos. One may do Laundry on Friday if it was not possible beforehand.
