With regard to DHC's comment, I did learn for the first time from this quiz that I can eat giraffe and remain kosher. I must admit, I haven't yet taken advantage of this piece of knowledge. Perhaps if and when I raid the local zoo (I had to post the "if and", because I don't want to get done for conspiring to commit a crime) to fulfil this purpose (that I haven't taken on board - please don't arrest me!), I would hope I'd remember to let you all know. Most of these comments are about the scores of the participants in this quiz. Its surely an expression of pride in having good knowledge, but do we need to know this? Would it not be better if we would learn of some more of the details about how different people or communities are making their food kosher? Reply

Margaret Buttimer Co Cork, August 5, 2025

Hi everyone,

I've always liked the theory that the Irish are a Lost Tribe. It's probably not true but it's a nice thought. Reply

John London March 26, 2025
in response to Karen:

Indeed a nice thought, but my mother's maternal grandfather had a tribal emblem comprising a pair of crossed hands. This emblem could only belong to what has, since the first century CE at least, been referred to as the tribe of Joseph, which tribe Jacob crossed his hands to bless - one of the Ten "Lost" Tribes! That was great. I got them all correct! The giraffe was easy if you think about it. Split hooves and chew its cud. Reply

Linda Australia February 26, 2025

9/10. Oh well, seems the giraffe stumped a lot of people.

Did you know it only has seven (7) vertebrae in its neck? Must be mighty flexible to reach all those high branches and stuff. Reply
