When a parent loves a child,

he stoops down to the child, with such love,
he leaves his language to speak the language of the child,
he leaves his place to play the games of the child,
he leaves his entire world and all the maturity he has gained in thirty, forty years or more to become excited, sincerely excited, by those things that excite the child, to react as the child reacts, to live with the child in the child’s world with all his being…

So too, G‑d feels our pain and our joy. He lives intimately with us in our world. Yet He is infinite, beyond all things—even as He is here with us.

AMEN AMEN ! !
Could not have better said it better myself. Could not have thought it better myself. A parent's love is eternal, both parents. It's nice to know that there is an Eternal Parent for us.

"Hard to feel God comforting us"?
Dear Rivka, I suppose you have a reason for being in need of comfort. I can understand you well, as God took my wonderful husband away from me (he died a "death of a second") and even after more than 8 years I miss him terribly. But I learned, when I pray and really mean what my lips say, I feel comforted by God. Tehillim I say in Italian language, which I love because it is like music. And these words move me very much. Sometimes I shed tears. And in all this, I really feel HIS nearness and I feel comforted.

Maybe just because we can't see him. But, there is no doudt that He is there, we just have to learn to trust our feelings.

Thank you so much, I really needed to read this, especially now that I am going through hardship. I am grateful and humble knowing that I am not alone.

G-d Involved
It is said that a society is judged by how it treats its children and its elders.

We are given children in order to become better adults. Now it is up to us to find ways to reintegrate ourselves and our world with both "ends" of our being.

So how come it's so hard to feel G-d comforting me?
