This march was played by the armies of Napoleon. When the Alter Rebbe, who opposed Napoleon, heard the tune, he transformed the tyrant’s anthem into a tool for spiritual victory, by designating it a Chassidic Niggun.

“G-d will redeem Zion and build the cities of Judah and they will dwell there and possess it. The descendants of His servants will inherit it and those who love His name will establish themselves there.” (Psalms 69:36, 37)
