Golda Jacobs is a career counselor and consultant. As a teenager growing up in Chicago in the 1960s, she had a strong desire to travel on Zim Lines, a shipping company that offered rides to Israel. After her father heard her plans to travel alone with another female friend, he raised concerns about their safety. Golda wasn’t willing to let go of her dream so easily, and decided to ask the Rebbe what to do.

Mrs. Mariashi Groner, now the co-director of Lubavitch of North Carolina and director of the Charlotte Jewish Day School, recalls turning to the Rebbe during a difficult time in her teens. (1976)
