Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gluckowsky serves as rabbi of the Chabad community in Rechovot, Israel. He was part of a special delegation of emissaries sent by the Rebbe to Israel, where he married and raised a family. When his newborn son had jaundice, he feared that he would not be able to have the Bris on time. He asked for a blessing from the Rebbe, but only later discovered the care and attention the Rebbe had given him. (1989)

We spend our whole lives trying to elevate ourselves above and beyond the mundaneness of day-to-day material wellbeing. In fact, it’s such an important part of being a Jew, that we demonstrate our commitment to it in the first days of our life.

There is no need to persuade a Jew to become circumcised; he surely desires to do so on his own.
