This volume contains a free translation of Sichos delivered by the Lubavitcher Rebbe Shlita in the Farbrengens held from Sivan through Elul, 5740, with excerpts from every Farbrengen held during that period.

The translations are structured to appeal to an English speaking reader who is somewhat familiar with the teachings of Chassidus. The Sichos are not adapted or altered in context, but are presented, with slight changes, in the same form and thought style in which they were originally presented. Great effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the translations; however, they carry no official authority. As in all translations, the possibility of inadvertent error exists.

The index at the end lists those concepts which are somewhat unusual, either within the context of a Sicha of the Rebbe Shlita or in relation to the general topic of a given Sicha. Current issues such as family planning and the elderly, as well as topics such as Pesach and Shabbos mentioned outside of the usual context are listed.

The major innovation of this volume is that current issues are presented in essay form, e.g. Torah: The Beauty of the Elderly, and Free Choice and Responsibility, departing from the more literal translation of most of the Sichos. Although the structure has been altered, great effort has been made to ensure that the Rebbe Shlita’s ideas and instructions are presented unchanged. Any alteration in style is for the sole purpose of enabling these ideas to reach a wider and more varied audience.

This volume is the sixth of its kind published by Sichos In English, marking the completion of the translation of all Farbrengens from 5739 and 5740. Our intention is to make the teachings of Chassidus and in particular of the Rebbe Shlita available, through our previous publications and all those that follow, to many who were formerly unable to study them.
