Love this. Left me with a question. Why didn’t Hashem give Gershon the job of carrying Torah if he was the oldest?
The Kli Yakar (4:22) writes that this was to show that the Torah is accessible to all, not just the most important. If it was given to the firstborn, they might become arrogant and claim a monopoly on Torah study. Since it was not given to the firstborn, we can see that it is truly open to all.
