What is the deeper meaning of the shema prayer? Does it mean that there is just one G-d, or just One anything?

Yours or Ours You are right. In the first verse of Sh'ma, it says that HaShem is OUR G-d. I don't remember saying "your" G-d, but if I did, perhaps I was thinking in context of the verses of the "v'ahavta" which follow the Sh'ma and which speak in the second person singular (You should love YOUR G-d with all YOUR heart, YOUR soul, YOUR might.) Reply

YOUR GOD or OUR GOD? Rabbi Tau,
You translated the Shema as, Hear oh Israel the Lord is ‘YOUR’ God the Lord is one. I thought it was ‘OUR’ God.
Please clarify.

recorings of Blessings Shema, Mournere Kaddish I have come back to Judaism after a lapse of 45 years, because of Chabad. I do not read Hebrew and would like to say my prayers in Hebrew including above and others such as prayer before and after reading of the Torah. Is there a site on Chabad.org like recording of Blessing of Bread? Please direct me to it Thanks Reply
