A Takeaway

The above discussion, which defined Mashiach as the “macro-yechidah” whose influence will permeate the world, is relevant. It is not just another deep insight; it is a call to action. Moreover, the idea that the yechidah’s ability to permeate and resonate within is because “this is who I truly am” reshapes our very perception of self.

More than just inspiring, the all-encompassing soul identity of the Jew presented here allows the person to see their entire personality and life-force to be relevant to the coming of Mashiach. Not only does the integrated yechidah allow the Jew to sense a responsibility to bring Mashiach, but furthermore, it enables the person to feel that fulfilling G‑d’s mission is what they are all about.

There is a well-known teaching: “All the days of your life should be directed to bringing the era of Mashiach.”98

Without the “yechidah-effect,” this may sound overreaching, perhaps too much to be taken literally. How can a person responsibly dedicate “all the days of your life” towards a single endeavor?

However, once reframed by the yechidah, it is quite straightforward. When the yechidah is perceived as the “real me,” my essential life-force, then bringing Mashiach is not a project; it is my life. In this light, the teaching that “all the days of your life” are to bring Mashiach is more than just the pursuit of an important goal. Reframed by the yechidah, all layers of one’s personality and interests can be directed towards making Mashiach a reality, because this is what they truly are all about.99

Bringing Mashiach is in the hands of each and every one of us.100 To cite the famous words of the Rambam:101 “We must view the world as being in perfect balance. With one good deed, one kind word, or one good thought, one person can tip the cosmic scales and bring merit and liberation to the entire world.”102
