I could see why Esther would need to do that. But why would Mordecai, a righteous, observant Jew, be named after a Babylonian deity?

I don't mean massive temples with human sacrifices. What about a civilized idolater, in the privacy of his own home? What's so terrible?

The Torah tells the people of Israel to destroy idols. How about museum pieces that have historical significance?
