A Parshah teaching for every day of the week
The seventh section of the Book of Deuteronomy concludes Moses’ second farewell address to the Jewish people. It contains Moses’ completion of his review of the commandments, beginning with one that would become relevant only after the Jewish people would enter (Tavo, in Hebrew) the Land of Israel – that of bringing the first fruits of each year’s harvest to the holy Temple. It then continues with Moses’ review of the covenant between G d and the Jewish people.

can someone let me know why the number 8 appears after chapter and verse numbers here,
Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8? it looks like an unusual, perplexing construction. with thanks in advance -
That is the number of the verse with which the Torah portion of Ki Tavo ends.
thanks for responding and for the helpful information. i've become rusty. it looks like 8 refers to verse chet, that begins, "and hashem freed us"? please advise if this is incorrect. may we create a year of peace and well-being for all beings.
My pleasure! No, it's this verse: "And you shall observe the words of this covenant and fulfill them, in order that you will succeed in all that you do."
