Tolerance and Assimilation Often we forget that the world is consumed by a cycle of constant attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that have existed almost since the beginning of human history. No matter how we choose to look at it not much has really changed. Therefore the Torahs must be seen not simply as a recalling of the history i.e. the triumphs and failures of G-d's faithful people but more like a prediction of what is to come. More like a light, a teacher of what to expect and avoid in life, a guide to finally getting it right, finally fulfilling destiny as a people, as a nation, as a world. I am forever grateful not only to Abraham avinu and the many many people who have lived and died in order to keep Torah alive, in order to share the wisdom of their experiences, in order to help elevate our souls and the souls of all future generations, but I am especially grateful to our patient, benevolent, understanding, forgiving, merciful, and loving G-d, Adonoy HaShem Elohim who have made existence, redemption, and receiving the Torah as well as them possible. I encourage everyone to do extra mitzvot altruistically, in gratitude, because it's what touches the heart of Hashem, its what makes HaShem smile, it's what G-d wants. Reply
